Noull denied in six-goal thriller

-

Promotion challengers Kirrie Thistle only just salvaged a point in a six-goal thriller with Kinnoull at Tulloch Park.

The Perth side made an unbelievable start with Rhys Davies and Gordon Norrie both scoring before three minutes had elapsed. However, Darren Scott scored twice to bring Thistle level by the halfway stage of the second period.

Kinnoull regained the lead thanks to Davies’ second of the match 12 minutes from time, but Scott Drumm got Kirrie’s equaliser with a header 10 minutes from the end.

Glenrothes kept up their promotion challenge with a hardearned victory over East Craigie, with Charlie Scarborough’s 25th minute goal deciding an end-toend contest at Warout.

The Fifers had the more clear-cut chances, but the Shipbuilders felt they were denied a stonewall penalty.

Despite being short-handed Lochore Welfare racked up double figures against Forfar Albion at Crosshill.

Four up before the 20-minute mark, Owen McCabe pulled one back for Albion, but it was six by the break with a further four second half goals taking the tally to 10.

Welfare’s scorers were Scott Renton, Lee Celentano and Fraser McGuire who both scored twice, Ally McDonald, Graeme Moore, Kris Vaughan, Kevin Fotheringham, and lastly player/boss Lee Dair.

Two down at the interval, Scone Thistle staged a stunning second-half comeback to win 3-2 to deny visitors Newburgh a second win of the season.

In the South League Lochgelly Albert thoroughly merited their win over Kirkcaldy YM in the derby at Gardiners Park.

Former Denfield striker Ryan Robertson came back to haunt his old club with two goals in his side’s 3-1 success.

Kieran Dowie stabbed home from close range for the Berts’ opener after 52 minutes and a minute later Robertson was on hand to net the rebound after a great save by the YM keeper.

Robertson scored a third before a Martin Rennie cross was diverted in by an Albert defender for the visitors’ counter.

Rosyth made it back-to-back wins with a 4-1 victory at home to Livingston United

Boss Lee Richardson said: “We had to grind out a win against hard-working opponents who missed a penalty.”

ScottMorrison, TamHampson, John McDiarmid and John Duffy were Recs’ scorers.
