Bluebell prove too hot for Hibs

-

The difference in confidence was vividly reflected as bottom-of-thetable Thornton Hibs were beaten 4- 0 at home by Dundonald Bluebell, who stay four points clear at the top of the table.

Scott Orrock headed the visitors in front from a corner and it was 2-0 in 18 minutes as Ben Anthony made space for himself before firing home. Grady smacked home the third in the 75th minute before Gregg Meikle wrapped things up in the 87th minute.

Jeanfield Swifts were made to work hard for their 2-0 victory at Kennoway Star Hearts to maintain their promotion challenge.

It was only Swifts’ superior finishing that won the day in an otherwise evenly-contested affair.

Steve McManus hooked home to give Swifts the lead just before the break and the visitors sealed victory when Robbie Holden swept in a second with 15 minutes left .

There was disappointment for second-from-bottom Oakley as hosts Haddington came from behind to beat them 3-2.

Alan McDonough put Oakley ahead after four minutes, but Scott Wright levelled within two minutes.

However, on 12 minutes Stan Chitemere restored the visitors lead, but Andrew Sinclair’s quickfire strikes in 67 and 69 minutes turned things around for the Millfield outfit.

Lochee United boss Stevie Leahy was disappointed at being held to a goalless draw at Edinburgh United while Montrose Roselea bagged three points with a 2-0 win at Bathgate Thistle, only their second of the season on the road.

Seven games without a win had dragged the Angus outfit perilously close to the drop zone, so this victory could not be better timed.

Violet can consider themselves a shade unlucky to have lost 2-1 away to fourth-placed Dalkeith Thistle.
