Elusive too good to miss at Lingfield

racing: Six-year-old boosted by break and booking of Ryan Moore

- The ferret

ELUSIVE ELLEN won as she liked on her latest visit to Lingfield and looks sure to go well again on her return to the track for the JEC Fillies’ Handicap.

Originally trained in Ireland by Ken Condon, the six-year-old has won four times since joining Brendan Powell in 2014, albeit at a lowly level.

She snapped a losing run dating back to March of last year when bolting up course and distance in January on her first start since October, and it is interesting connections have given her another break since, presumably feeling she is at her best when fresh.

Elusive Ellen is 6lb higher on her return to action and is on a career-high mark, but clearly likes the track and the booking of Ryan Moore has to be seen as a huge positive.

STORMY CLOUDS is an attractive proposition in the opening Cantering Cuisine Novice Median Auction Stakes.

The Sir Prancealot filly shaped with plenty of promise when runner-up on her debut at Kempton less than a fortnight ago and may have been unfortunate to bump into a particularly smart one in Chupalla.

A reproduction of that effort could well suffice, and there is every chance she can even raise her game.

The smartly-bred BATTLEMENT must be backed in the TTS Networks Maiden Stakes. The three-year-old is a daughter of Dansili out of Scuffle, a mare Battlement’s trainer Roger Charlton did well with a few years ago.

Battlement was backed like victory was expected on her Wolverhampton introduction and, while odds-on backers had their fingers burnt, she was far from disgraced in finishing a close second to her main market rival who had the benefit of experience.

Charlton has found a perfect opportunity for her to go one better in what looks a particularly weak affair.
