Help to enhance hospital life

-

NHS Tayside is looking for volunteers in Perth and Kinross to give some of their spare time to help others.

The Tay Ward, which is part of the medicine for the elderly service at Perth Royal Infirmary, is currently looking for volunteers to help enhance patient care.

“Throughout NHS Tayside, we recognise and appreciate the importance of volunteers in our day-to-day work and the valuable contribution they make to the quality of life of patients, service users, carers, the organisation and the community,” said an NHS Tayside spokesperson.

“There are almost 1,000 volunteers of all ages across NHS Tayside carrying out many roles, including library assistants, health walk leaders, gardeners, flower arrangers, chaplaincy support and breastfeeding buddies.

“Volunteering can give people the opportunity to learn new skills and gain experience, while also doing something worthwhile.”

Voluntary services manager Jane Laahs said: “We are very proud of our volunteers who give their time so selflessly to provide support to our patients, staff and visitors.

“They come from all walks of life, and from youngest to oldest, they make valuable contributions to enhance the services we provide to our patients.”
