- JaMie BeaTson

A MAN is to stand trial accused of stalking a nine-year-old girl.

Brian Bruce, 56, is alleged to have asked the youngster to tell him her name and address then loitered “outside her school in his van”.

Prosecutors claim he repeatedly followed the girl over the course of a week.

They allege he stalked the young girl at parks, outside a primary school and in streets across Dundee.

Bruce is said to have “engaged in a course of conduct that caused fear or alarm” to the girl by approaching and contacting her and requesting that she tell him her name and address.

He is further said to have repeatedly followed her in his van.

It’s claimed that he activated his lights and sounded his horn, waved at her and loitered in his van outside her school.

Bruce, of Palais Court, Dundee, denied a charge of stalking between February 15 and 22 on summary complaint at Dundee Sheriff Court yesterday.

George Donnelly, defending, said: “He maintains his plea of not guilty.

“We can agree certain evidence in the case.

“There is one potential defence witness and if he is to be called his details will be given to the Crown.”

Fiscal depute Muhammad Sadiq added: “The Crown are fully prepared for trial and all witnesses have been cited.”

Sheriff Lorna Drummond QC continued the case to a trial date later this month.
