Match of day offers intriguing prospect

North League

Match of the day is Downfield, second from top, at promotion aspirants Glenrothes, who are five points behind them but have two games in hand.

The Spiders, with 63 goals, are the most prolific scorers; the Fifers have the meanest defence having conceded just 12.

The Glens are without defender Steven Jackson and striker Charlie Scarborough, and are sweating on the fitness of John Martin, who scored both goals in their 2-0 midweek win at Lochore.

The Spiders have no injury concerns, but striker Kevin Milne is suspended.

Foxhall Park is the venue for Coupar Angus v Blairgowrie.

The hosts will be depleted by injury and availability, while leaders Blairgowrie expect to have a full squad.

Without a win in their last three outings, Kirrie Thistle are at Brechin Vics. Thistle boss Jim Finlayson feels they have been playing well enough. Steven Duffy and Jon Snowdon return from suspension, but there are injury concerns over a couple of un-named players.

Vics are missing Hugh Dickson, Barry Gourlay, David Steel, Adam Renilson and Sam Wood.

Lochore Welfare, badly under-strength recently, host North End.

The Dokens are again without the injured Zak Wilson, Scott Cameron and Ross Lunan. Gavin Burns is unavailable. Kinnoull play Harp at Tulloch Park.

The Perth club have only lost two away games, but they have only won the same number at home.

They have a full squad.

Their Beechwood visitors are boosted by a 6-3 win over Brechin Vics.

Scone Thistle welcome East Craigie in a mid-table clash, strengthened by Scott Lafferty and Kenny Hynd’s return.

East Craigie are handicapped by the absence of Stephen McNally and Ross McFarlane.

Newburgh are looking to win at home for the first time this season when Arbroath Vics come calling.

Burgh are without Blair Smart, out for the rest of the season, and Mark Ramsay and Cumbie Bowers.

Vics should have a full squad.

South League

Lochgelly Albert’s five-match unbeaten run seems set to continue with the visit of Stoneyburn, who prop up the league and have lost all nine away fixtures.

Last week Rosyth were desperately unlucky to lose to champions Tranent, and this week they are at home to Whitburn Juniors, favourites to accompany the Foresters Park outfit up to the Premier Division.

Lee Richardson’s side have keeper Ross Wortley available.

With only one win on the road all season, Kirkcaldy YM’s hopes of victory at Easthouses Lily aren’t helped by several injuries, so it will be a late selection by the Denfield outfit.
