A record entry of 600 was received for this year’s Spring Medal, which began over the Old Course at St Andrews yesterday.

The best net score was 70, shared by Hans Christian Colov (7) from Denmark and Major Alex Cameron (13).

Nick Gammon (scr) returned the lowest gross score of the day, a 72.
