Archbishop leads way in urging support for Team GB runner Farah to be knighted
There were calls for “double double” champion Mo Farah to be honoured with a knighthood after his starring role on a glittering night for Britain in Rio.
Archbishop of York John Sentamu called on his Twitter followers to spread support for the gong, tweeting: “Mo Farah U are simply the Best Athlete Team GB has ever seen! Absolutely FANTABULOUS & Awesome! Congrats 4 the Double Double! BF Rt:now SIR MO.”
Gary Lineker echoed the clergyman, tweeting: “Sir Mo!” and: “Wow! Just Wow! Rio is Mo Town. @Mo-Farah is surely the greatest long-distance runner of all time. The double double.”
Singer and radio presenter Aled Jones said: “@Mo-Farah you are a legend!!! Congratulations – so proud to be British and to watch your utter brilliance!”
