Arrowdawn Gordonians clinch title

-

With a week to go in the Strathmore and Perthshire NEC, Arrowdawn Gordonians clinched the title and progress to the play-offs after a win at Strathmore.

Strathmore struggled against a solid attack and posted 113-6.

Swapnil Rane and Marc Jones had a couple of wickets each for the visitors.

When the winning run was scored with only two back in the pavilion, alongside Neil Smith on 45 was Aman Arora on 41.

It took Duckworth Lewis to decide the winner at Victory Park after Stoneywood/Dyce totalled 161-8, with Mark Lambley notching a half century and Mikey Louw 20 as Charles Clark, Alan Neave and Matt Farmer grabbed a couple of wickets each.

Meigle reached 131-4 after 36 overs with opener Steve Knight and Peter Drummond on 86 and 32 respectively before the rain intervened.

The buttons were punched, up came a total of 177-7, and Meigle took full points.

At Doo’cot Park, Perth batted first and set Arbroath United a target of 130.

Curtis Taylor and Trevor Brown topscored for Perth in the 43 overs the home side occupied the crease.

Arbroath slumped to 103 all out in 30 overs. Jack Plomer had an unbeaten 27 and Bryce Carnagie posted 21 but, with Stephen Boyd, Jonathan Hill and Ivor Patterson sharing the bowling honours, Perth prevailed.

At Forthill the home side racked up 238 all out, with Coinneach Carmichael reaching an unbeaten 84.

In a high-scoring clash Dundee HSFP passed that with four wickets to spare, thanks in no small part to 82 blasted by Balaji Ramalingham.

At the Priory, ground conditions forced the cancellation of Rossie Priory’s joust against Mannofield.
