Hartley’s triple boost for Motherwell clash

McGowan and Duffy back in training, and new signing Gomis in contention for Fir Park visit

Dundee boss Paul Hartley has received a triple boost ahead of Saturday’s Premiership game at Motherwell.

Paul McGowan, who missed last Friday night’s draw with Hamilton because of a bug, has recovered and is back training along with on-loan Celtic wide player Michael Duffy, who also missed the Accies match but has now shrugged off the effects of a thigh knock.

The club’s new signing, French defender Kevin Gomis, is also in the manager’s thoughts for the trip to take on the Steelmen at Fir Park.

The 27-year-old former Nice centrehalf agreed a one-year deal with the Dark Blues on Friday night after showing up well while training with the squad.

He could now make his Dundee debut against Mark McGhee’s side.

However Craig Wighton, who injured his knee in training last week, will again be missing.

The frontman is still struggling with the problem and won’t be risked.

Meanwhile, former Motherwell defender Tom Hateley has been linked with a move to Dundee.

Hibs are said to be the frontrunners to sign the 26-year-old, and have already held talks with him.

But Dundee are also reported to have an interest in speaking to the free agent.

Hateley – the son of former England star Mark – is wanted down south as well, with both AFC Wimbledon and Bradford City keen.

He has turned down a new contract with Polish side Slask Wroclaw.

Hateley can play at right-back as well as in midfield. nrobertson@thecourier.co.uk
