ROCKTALK GIG GUIDE

-

Great news from young Dundee band Kashmir Crows, who not only won a Glasgow Battle of the Bands competition but impressed the judges so much, they’ve been given a headline slot at Barrowland next month.

That’s despite only being in existence since February this year.

Manager Dougie Black explained: “I got the guys involved in a battle in the Clutha Bar in Glasgow – it was a ‘biggest cheers’ wins.

“Despite being unknown and from Dundee they still managed against all the odds to progress through their heat, the semi and eventually, to win the final.

“The prize for that was a slot at the Barras. They liked the band that much they asked them to headline the showcase gig instead.

“Last year’s event sold 1,800 tickets and they expect a sellout this year.”

He admits that when he started managing the band his first comment was how much he would like to play the venue.

“So I think I’ve done pretty well after just a few months,” Dougie said.

Before the Barrowland gig, the band plays a couple of local shows, starting with a support slot with the Complete Stone Roses at Montrose Town Hall on September 10, then an appearance at the Dundee Rotary Oktoberfest on September 22.

They’re also planning a show at Fat Sam’s in Dundee.

Crash Club have, sadly, had to pull out of their headline slot at Buskers tomorrow night due to personal reasons.

Their spot is now taken by Perth-based psychedelic pop and garage rock n’ roll band Real Life Entertainment, with support from An Orange

Conspiracy. Doors open at 8pm and it’s £5 entry. On Sunday night, Breathe in the Silence are there, with support from Beyond Recall, Bed of Wasps, Rainfalls and Ride The Tides.

soundtracks and lots more.

As a producer, he makes music that draws on those influences, with a large dose of cheek and good humour.
