Fife founded milk supplier to create 100 new jobs

-

A milk supplier which started out 21 years ago with a single Fife round is set for major expansion.

McQueens Dairies was founded in 1995 and the firm’s first offices were based at Ladeddie Farm near St Andrews.

The group now employs 194 staff across six depots, including a base at Mitchelston Industrial Park in Kirkcaldy.

The firm services 50,000 residential and commercial customers and its turnover has increase by 25% in the past three years.

The group moved its head office to premises at the M8 Food Park in Glasgow in 2010 and its staff headount has grown by 20 in the oast 14 months after the installation of a new processing facility.

The company, headed by founder Mick McQueen, has now laid out plans to add around 100 more jobs over the coming three year period.

“We have experienced 45% growth year-on-year in staff numbers for the last five years and our aim is to grow by 50% in the next three,” Mr McQueen said.

“Investing in our own processing facility provided us with the security of having control of the quantities of milk being produced and delivered.

“This allowed us to confidently expand our operations in Scotland and England, with two depots in Huddersfield and Mansfield launching in the last two years.

“We are now seeking to open a further two depots in England to increase our reach across the UK.”
