Three-times Scottish Cup winners Tayport lost 2-0 for the second game in a row, but this time it meant an exit from this season’s premier cup competition.

Centre-half Peter McMahon put Blantyre Vics in front after just two minutes of the Scottish Cup second round clash when he bundled the ball home from a corner.

Kieran Coleman doubled the advantage early in the second half when he rose above the Tayport defence to power a header past Gavin Sorley.

Tayport had an opportunity to get back into the game on 72 minutes after Alan Tulleth was brought down in the penalty area but Jamie Mackie saw his spot-kick saved by the Blantyre keeper.

Lochgelly Albert travelled west to Cambuslang Rangers as massive underdogs according to the bookies.

However, it is Craig Ness’s side that are in the draw for the third round after they came from behind to beat the West Region Central League Leaders 2-1 at Somervell Park.

Liam Gormley had given Rangers the lead on seven minutes but the Fife side were quickly level when Scott Gibson equalise on 22 minutes.

John Ferguson hit Alberts’ deserved winner with 13 minutes left on the clock.

It was an easy afternoon for Super League leaders Kelty Hearts, who had their tie at home to Aberdeen University sewn up inside the first 25 minutes.

Neil McCabe put Hearts in front on 15 minutes and Murray Carstairs made it 2-0 four minutes later. Scott Dalziel scored the home side’s third just six minutes later.

Stuart Cargill made it 4-0 on 63 minutes before Jason Penman hit number five on 70 minutes.

The students managed to score a consolation goal with nine minutes to go but Craig Thomson made it a comfortable 6-1 victory in the dying minutes.

Glenrothes must have thought they would go in at half-time level against Hill of Beath in the Fife derby, when Stephen Forbes equalised from the spot.

But the visitors – who went ahead courtesy of a 20th-minute penalty from Lee Reid – immediately went back in front through Aaron Hay to lead at the break.

The second half belonged to Hill of Beath’s Callum Anderson, who helped himself to a hat-trick in just 22 minutes, scoring on 49, 60 and 71 minutes as the Super League side ran riot.

Greig Smith made it 6-1 for Bobby Wilson’s side with eight minutes to go.

A Rhys Davies goal saw Kinnoull equalise on the hour at home to Glasgow Perthshire. However, the West Region side hit the winner on 69 minutes to knock out Alan Cameron’s side.

Scone Thistle made the long trip to the Highland capital to face Inverness City, and promptly gave the hosts a 2-0 lead at half-time. However Derek Lawson’s side produced a barnstorming last half-hour to run out 5-2 winners.

Sean Whitworth pulled a goal back for Thistle before Kenny Hynd equalised for the visitors four minutes later. City were rattled and it got worse for them on 63 minutes when they were reduced to 10 men.

Abi Njie put Scone in front on 80 minutes and made it 4-2 on 87 minutes.
