More council homes for city
Construction has started on new council homes in Perth.
Glasgow-based firm CCG (Scotland) Ltd is building nearly 20 properties for Perth and Kinross Council.
Set for launch in spring next year, a site at Nimmo Avenue in the north of the city is being transformed into 10 onebedroom flats and cottages. Half of these will be fully wheelchair accessible.
A further eight one-bedroom cottage flats will be built on the site of an old garage at Cairns Crescent.
In September, CCG in Scotland marked the completion of more than 400 new student flats in Glasgow and Edinburgh, The firm was also one of the creators behind the 2014 Commonwealth Games athletes’ village.
Director Calum Murray said: “It is great to see these new projects get under way in Perth.
“Every year, we’re continuing to expand the geographical spread of our business and this project is particularly exciting as we look to widen the scope of our residential developments north of the central belt.”
The council’s convener of housing and health, Dave Doogan, said: “These newbuild projects are part of the council’s affordable house building programme which has already delivered around 200 new council homes in the last three years.”
New properties have already been built in Methven, Scone, Blairgowrie and Alyth.
