Hall cards hot and breezy 67 to take the lead

-

England’s Georgia Hall will take a one-shot lead into the final round of the inaugural Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open in Abu Dhabi.

Hall carded a third round of 67 in hot and breezy conditions at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club to reach 15-under-par, with Australian Sarah Kemp on 14-under and England’s Mel Reid and American Beth Allen a shot further back.

Half-way leader Olafia Kristinsdottir of Iceland struggled to a 74 to lie four shots off the lead alongside Finland’s Minea Blomqvist, with England’s Holly Clyburn and France’s Gwladys Nocera on 10-under.

“After the great round yesterday I tried to forget about it and act like I just shot level par and I did that,” said the 20-year-old Hall, who carded a course record of 64 on Thursday.

“I stayed patient on the front nine, because I had a silly three-putt from about 12ft, but I’m happy with that five-under and looking forward to tomorrow.”

Reid said: “We’re going to have to shoot a low one to give ourselves a chance but there are plenty of birdie opportunities so hopefully we can get off to a fast start again.”

A bogey on the last was also costly for Annabel Dimmock, who had to settle for a 64 to equal Hall’s course record.
