Learn the art of conversation

-

A new free seven-week programme of ‘Community Know How’ is being offered to native and non-native English speakers.

The initiative was designed in response to feedback from English for Speakers of Other Languages learners who reported a lack of opportunities for them to engage in discussions and develop their communication and conversational skills.

A council spokesperson said: “On this course, the emphasis was placed on using and developing language through researching topics of their choice and interest, discussion, presenting findings, sharing ideas and opinions and working together in small groups.

“Learners from the previous courses were very enthusiastic about their experience.

“Previous learners also appreciated sharing with those from other countries whilst learning about life in Perth and Scotland and how it compares with their own country and experience.

“This new programme will extend this further to include native English speakers, who would like to learn and share information and opinions in this multicultural setting.”

The programme is being run by Perth and Kinross Council’s adult and family learning team at the AK Bell Library, Perth, on Thursdays from 9.45am to 11.45am, for seven weeks.
