A man staggered down a Fife street in broad daylight after being stabbed multiple times.

Emergency crews were scrambled to the centre of Lochore on Sunday after members of the public spotted the wounded man, who has been named locally as 30-year-old Scott Armstrong.

He was taken to Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, where he is said to be in a “serious” condition, as police investigate the attack.

One local shop worker said that news of the incident had shocked the town.

“He went into the Co-op store for help,” she said.

“People are saying he was stabbed about five or six times. There’s a lot of rumours going about at the moment but I’ve heard that some people from Glasgow might have been involved. “Nobody knows for sure though.” The emergency services were alerted to the man’s condition at around 4.30pm when witnesses saw the victim staggering in the street.

Police officers cordoned off the Co-op shop in the aftermath of the incident, however those leading the investigation believe that the attack may have taken place in the area of nearby Loch Leven Gardens.

Yesterday, there was little evidence of the previous day’s events, however news of the attack was widespread in the close-knit community.

A local resident, who did not wish to be named, said: “Everybody has been talking about it.

“It’s not the sort of area where you would expect a lot of trouble as a lot of older people live about here.”

Detectives are now appealing for anyone who witnessed the attack, or saw anyone acting suspiciously in the area, to come forward.

Those with information are urged to contact Dunfermline CID via 101 or make an anonymous report through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
