Win tonight would put United in a ‘nice place’

Team is on a high after winning four consecutive games

Dundee United’s Tony Andreu admits the Championship table will look “very nice” if they can join leaders Hibs at the top tonight.

Victory for the Tangerines against Dunfermline at Tannadice will move them on to the 27-point mark alongside their title rivals.

With the Edinburgh club not playing this evening, success over the Pars will see Ray McKinnon’s men put some serious pressure on the Hibees for their match against Falkirk at Easter Road on Saturday.

Confidence in the United camp is sky-high after their 4-1 success against Queen of the South at Palmerston at the weekend.

The Frenchman said: “If we can win this game then we would be level at the top with Hibs so that makes it a vital one for us.

“That would be very nice because we have come from quite far behind in the division.

“Every match is important, of course, because we need to keep winning if we want to be promoted.”

He continued: “I think our confidence is great, with the team having won four games in a row now.

“You can see that in training – the boys are very happy just now.

“We have been feeling great and you saw that in our play on Saturday.

“We passed the ball well and scored four great goals.

“The momentum we carry into the Dunfermline match is important.”

He added: “We are at the stage where every game is crucial but if teams are going to be a bit stressed about coming to Tannadice and expecting a tough game then that’s good for us.”

Meanwhile, Andreu sent out his best wishes to team-mate Paul Dixon, who is facing a long spell out of the side with a knee ligament injury suffered during the Queens match.

He said: “It is a bad one because Paul was doing so well for the team.

“It is tough and I feel for him, but we have to go on because that’s football.

“Jamie Robson did very well when he came on and that proves it is about all the whole team. “It is about the squad, not individuals. “You need a strong squad if you are going to win promotion and I feel that is the case with United.”
