Hamstring injury rules Millar out for a month

-

Injury-plagued Chris Millar is braced for another month on the sidelines.

The St Johnstone midfielder’s campaign has been disrupted by a series of injuries.

He started against Rangers and then Hearts after recovering from a groin strain but was forced off early at Tynecastle.

Manager Tommy Wright said: “Chris has suffered a tear in his hamstring and will be out for four weeks.

“It’s a real setback for him and for us because we thought his troubles were behind him.

“He has had a torrid time of it and it is a real disappointment because Chris can be so influential for us.”

Meanwhile, Zander Clark would love St Johnstone to “brush up” on their home form after securing another point away from McDiarmid Park.

Saints left Tynecastle on Saturday with a 2-2 draw against Hearts, but it could have been better had they held out after Chris Kane put them 2-1 up with just four minutes left.

However, they conceded an equaliser to Hearts’ Callum Paterson just 60 seconds after taking the lead.

While they have beaten Dundee as well as drawn at Ibrox and against the Jam Tarts in recent weeks, last month they lost at home to Kilmarnock and Partick Thistle.

When they come back from the international break to host Ross County, goalkeeper Clark wants to see improvement.

“You would like to think that a point against Hearts away is the kind of point which could prove crucial,” he said.

“Now we need to brush up on our home form because, the other week against Partick, we should have been winning.

“It’s important for us to be mentally focused for the 90 minutes and be able to see games out.

“It almost felt like a defeat at Tynecastle.

“Taking the lead so late on you think it’s going to be the three points and then to concede is disappointing.”

He continued: “But it’s another point on the board at the end of the day. It was great for us to get in front but we should see the game out.

“It’s a tight league, we know that, so on reflection a draw at Tynecastle was decent and we must build on that when we come back from the international break.”
