Ibrox goal hero Forrester welcomes fans’ criticism
Rangers match-winner Harry Forrester insisted he was comfortable dealing with frustration from the stands at Ibrox after lifting the supporters with an added-time winner against Dundee.
Forrester glanced home fellow substitute Joe Dodoo’s cross to earn Rangers a 1-0 victory and keep them one point behind second-placed Aberdeen in the Ladbrokes Premiership.
Rangers started and finished the game well but Dundee frustrated their hosts for long spells in between, restricting their chances and creating several of their own.
The home support made their feelings known, notably when Mark Warburton took off the impressive Josh Windass, later stressing he needed to ease the midfielder up to a 90-minute contribution following an injury-disrupted start to the season.
But just as the visitors looked to have weathered a late storm, Forrester notched his third goal in as many games against Dundee.
“The crowd help us so much,” the former Doncaster player said.
“Sometimes they expect us to do better than we are doing obviously, and we sense that.
“But as professionals we have got to deal with that. We know what it’s like, that at Rangers we are expected to win, we expect to win. And if we are not doing the job that we need to be doing, we know we are going to be told.”
Forrester has only started five league games this season but he refuses to get frustrated.
“Everyone wants to play as many minutes as possible,” the 25-year-old said.
“At the moment it’s from the bench, as a squad player you know you have got to do that.”
