BALHOUSIE CASTLE: Perth’s Black Watch Castle and Museum has been shortliste­d for a top prize at the Arts and Business Scotland awards.

The Enterprisi­ng Museum Category recognises an innovation or entreprene­urial project that has delivered an ambitious, high-impact museum experience in 2015-16.

The museum was the first location in Scotland to host the Poppies: Weeping Window sculpture by artist Paul Cummins and designer Tom Piper. KINROSSIE HALL COMMITTEE: The committee’s Christmas Fair proved a huge success, helping to raise £1,049 for hall funds. HEARTSTART DISCOVERY: Free two-hour training sessions in emergency life support for members of the public will be held in Perthshire this month.

The first takes place in Perth on Monday between 10am and noon, with a second in Blairgowri­e on Wednesday between 5.30pm and 7.30pm.

CRIEFF: Police are hunting a thief who left a keen gardener distraught after making off with several bulb plants and seedlings from a property in Crieff’s Turretbank Road.

The theft took place on the afternoon of Saturday November 6.

Anyone with informatio­n is asked to call Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestopp­ers anonymousl­y on 0800 555 111. KINROSS: A wildlife shelter at Pier Road in Kinross was vandalised over the weekend of November 25-28.

Officers are urging anyone who may have seen someone acting suspicious­ly in the area to get in touch.
