The View: A decade of highs and lows

-

For true rock and roll bands, it’s rarely straightforward.

From The Rolling Stones to Oasis, few successful bands avoid making the headlines for the wrong reasons.

Dundee’s famous four-piece is no different.

Despite becoming a household name overnight, the group have not had their troubles to seek in recent years.

From well publicised legal battles to battle with addiction, The View have not always hit the headlines in a good way.

Here, The Courier takes a look back at the band’s highs and lows down the years. Highs: Playing to a home crowd at Radio One’s Big Weekend in Dundee’s Camperdown Park in 2006.

Seeing debut album Hats Off To The Buskers enter the UK charts at number one spot in January 2007.

Selling more than 300,000 copies of the same album, gaining platinum status.

Single success with hit songs Same Jeans and Wasted Little DJs. Lows: In 2007, a cocaine possession charge for Kyle prevented the group from recording in New York. They eventually settled on Hamburg.

July 2015 saw Kyle cancel his wedding and check himself into Thailand’s Lanna Rehab facility.

The month before entering rehab, the singer was allegedly involved in an altercation on a plane which led to it being diverted to France. He has since appeared in court accused of shouting homophobic abuse at an air host.

In October, Kyle was charged with assault after a disturbance on Dundee’s West Marketgait. He was fined £300.
