Lefebvre wants to see commitment from players

STARS: Coach expects his team to turn up and put on a performance in Coventry

Marc Lefebvre expects his entire squad to show up when they travel to Coventry Blaze tonight.

The Dundee Stars coach went on record in midweek to say several senior players did not contribute as expected in Wednesday’s 4-1 Challenge Cup quarter-final first-leg defeat at home to Cardiff Devils.

Blaze are in the same area of the table as Stars, as are tomorrow’s opponents Braehead.

The coach said: “There was a great effort from a lot of the guys on Wednesday but two or three did not pull their weight.

“With that and being three imports down you see what happens and we must refocus ahead of Coventry.

“This is a massive game for us and we’re looking to go there and claim two league points.”

Meanwhile, Fife Flyers’ coach Todd Dutiaume has told his players to cut out inconsistencies.

Manchester Storm visit Kirkcaldy tonight 7.15pm and Dutiaume’s men travel across the Forth tomorrow for the clash with Edinburgh Capitals.

He said: “Manchester are a team we beat soundly when they were last here, but I don’t think we’ll be facing the same team on Saturday.

“Edinburgh have had some decent results lately and it is always a tough place to play.”

Shayne Stockton again misses out through a long-term injury but Justin Fox and Ryan Single are being monitored regularly.

Dutiaume would love to have the scoring duo available but added: “As a group we need consistency night-in, night-out.

“If we do that then we will see smiling faces I the dressing room which we had last weekend with the character win over Belfast.”

Dundee Tigers travel to North Ayrshire Wild tonight and then secondplaced Paisley Pirates tomorrow.

Ian Carstairs, one of Tigers senior players, said: “The game against the Wild is difficult to call.

“When we faced them at the start of the season they were hard working and effective but seem to have gone off the boil in their last three or four games.

“We need to approach this match as a must win.

“Pirates are second in the league but have two games in hand and are there for a reason.”
