Blue Brazil looking to maintain momentum

We are still very much a work in progress but we are making forward steps, which is very encouraging. LIAM FOX

Cowdenbeath head to Annan this afternoon with manager Liam Fox looking for his side to build on their best spell of the season that included last weekend’s 1-0 win over promotion-seeking Clyde.

Fox said: “We played well against Clyde and managed to get an important win.

“It was not a great spectacle and there were very few chances in the game but we managed to edge it with Kris Renton’s late goal.

“They are a very good side with great experience and they went out and beat Arbroath 5-0 in midweek.

“That shows that it was a great result for us.

“Hopefully, the players will take a lot of confidence from it.

“However, we cannot sit back and think we have cracked it now and will charge up the table.

“We are still very much a work in progress but we are making forward steps which is very encouraging.”

Fox is warning his players that Annan will be out to make Cowden pay for their disappointing Scottish Cup exit last weekend.

He said: “Annan will be sore after losing 4-0 at Formartine and will be determined to hit back.

“They will be out to show that they are a much better team than that and we have to be ready to meet very determined opponents.”

Their own bout of cup misfortune could work in their favour at Galabank as Fox explained: “We know what a result like that can feel like as we went through it when we lost to East Kilbride.

“It hurts for a good few days and I know that Jim Chapman will be every bit as determined as I was to get a win to make up for it.

“We responded well and have put together a decent run. We simply need to keep it going.”

Kenny Adamson is the only absentee with the defender remaining out due to a back injury.
