Perthshire walkers needed for charity trek to save Sally, 32
A cross-country charity challenge which could save the life of a cancer-stricken mother-of-four is heading for Perthshire.
Sally Major was diagnosed with stage-four bowel cancer in 2015,
After 20 gruelling chemotherapy sessions, the 32-yearold from Yorkshire has been told that the NHS can now only offer her palliative care.
But her family is fighting for her life by raising more than £100,000 to pay for pioneering surgery in Germany.
Husband Liam has already sold the family car and is now plotting an epic 500-mile relay across the UK.
The We Will Walk 500 Miles campaign sets off from John O Groats on January 20 and Liam is looking for volunteer walkers to join him at each 10 mile section.
He said: “We have funded various treatments ourselves at around £25,000 and have had some fantastic help from fundraisers who have so far raised around £23,000 for us.
“Unfortunately, this only covers the initial tumour testing for suitability of the treatment we are looking at.
“The Hallwang Clinic in Germany offers cutting edge combined treatment, including low dose chemotherapies, immunotherapies, dentritic cell vaccine and personalised cancer vaccinations. These treatments have been seen to cure the UK NHS incurable.
“Unfortunately, the cost of around nine weeks of treatment here will be over £100,000.”
Liam added: “Me, my kids and all of our family really need Sally in our lives.”
