Persimmon looking to build on Scottish success in 2017
Persimmon Homes in Scotland has set out plans for building more homes in many developments across Scotland.
The northmost division of the UK’s biggest housebuilder plans to continue building in Aberdeen, Dunbar, Bridge of Weir, Dunfermline, Stewarton and Haddington.
It also intends to deliver new homes in Arbroath, Helensburgh, Lennoxtown, East Calder and Dundee as the year continues.
Scottish regional chairman John Cassie said: “The business had an excellent year in 2016.”
Full-year UK revenues for 2016 rose to £3.14 billion, with the company selling a total of 15,171 new homes compared to 14,572 in 2015. The average selling price increased 4% to £206,700.
Mr Cassie said: “Going into 2017 we have already forward sold many homes.
“The value of our forward sales at December 31 2016 was around £1,230 million, which is 12% ahead of where we were last year (£1,103m).
“Our focus for Scotland in 2017 is to open a further 15 new sites offering the types of homes required by people looking to get on to the property ladder and families looking to move up and grow.”
He added: “The Government’s hugely successful Help to Buy Scotland scheme is supporting many people looking to purchase by ensuring they only require a 5% deposit.”
Perth is Persimmon Scotland’s north region HQ, charged with continuing the momentum of last year when work took place on 16 developments.
The firm’s Scottish projects support more than 1,000 construction jobs.
