Four Dundee men pulled a screaming woman out through the boot of her car after an accident, moments before another vehicle nearly hit the group.

Jack Green, 23, Scott Robertson, 25, Cole Gaffney, 26, and Grant Anderson, 23, were driving at around 1am on Sunday, near Glenshee, when they came across a car on its side with a woman trapped inside.

After realising she was stuck, they managed to pull her out through the boot of her car.

Call centre worker Jack said the woman “could have died” if they hadn’t come across her.

He said: “We were coming home from Glenshee and we were coming back towards Dundee. There was a car on its side in the middle of the road.

“It was pitch black and we only saw the brake light – we originally thought it was a cyclist. We got closer and realised that there was a woman trapped in the car. We managed to pull her out through the boot.

“We couldn’t get the seats down so we had to pull her between the seats and the roof space.

“I think that anyone would have done the same thing in that situation.

“She was screaming and crying and her feet and legs were cut. I think she was probably in shock.

“We could have driven right into her. It was pitch black and there are no street lights there or anything.”

As the four tended to the injured woman, another car came round the corner and had to break sharply to avoid crashing into them.

Jack said that they had to jump out of the way of the vehicle as it skidded on the icy road.

He said that “it would have smashed into the girl’s car” if it had not been for them having their phone torches activated at the time.

He added: “I was speaking to the girl and I just heard Cole shout – I have never seen them move so fast in my life, to get out of the way.

“The driver braked and skidded and ended up about five feet from the crash.

“I am just really glad there were four of us.

“If there was fewer people, that car would definitely have hit us, as we would have still been trying to get her out.”
