ALYTH: The Alyth Literary Society’s AGM will be held in the Ogilvy Rooms, Commercial Street, Alyth, on Tuesday at the earlier time of 7pm.

Following the business meeting, entertainment will be provided by Alan Thomson and Bob Wallace, better known as Kirrie the Fit. All are welcome to attend. Bookings for the annual supper on March 21 are being taken with further information available on 01828 632001.

ABERNETHY: The next meeting of the Abernethy Horticultural Society will take place a week today at 7.30pm.

Simon Poots, chairman of the Perth and Kinross Red Squirrel Group, will talk about the work being undertaken in the area to protect the indigenous reds from greys.

The meeting will be held at the Masons Hall on Main Street, Abernethy, with admission free to members and £2.50 for non-members.

FLOWER CLUB: Perth Flower Club is holding its AGM in the Grampian Hotel on Monday at 7.30pm.

Demonstrator for the evening will be Hetty Redwood from Linlithgow. New members and visitors are welcome.

CANCER SUPPORT GROUP: The first meeting of Perth and Kinross Cancer Support Group this year will see members welcome Glasgow University professor of urology and oncology Hing Leung to the Salutation Hotel on Tuesday at 1.45pm.

The professor will offer the latest information and guidance on cryotherapy, which is used to manage advanced prostate cancer where it has returned after treatment.

BURRELTON AND WOODSIDE SENIOR CLUB: The next meeting, on Thursday February 9 in Cargill Burrelton Church hall, will be the members’ bring and buy sale, with a variety of stalls and a raffle on offer. Donations will be welcomed. The senior club will also be hosting a fundraising whist drive and supper on Friday February 17 at 7.30pm.

MUSIC: A free gig will take place at Twa Tams on Saturday at 8.30pm.
