Transfer deadline day: all the movers and shakers -

-

Yesterday’s transfer deadline day proved relatively quiet for England’s top flight clubs with 14 of the 20 teams involved in fixtures last night.

Burnley broke their transfer record to recruit Robbie Brady from Norwich City.

The Republic of Ireland international signed a three-anda-half-year deal at Turf Moor for an undisclosed fee. But the Clarets confirmed the sum eclipsed the £10.5 million they paid Derby for Jeff Hendrick last summer.

He was the second new arrival at Burnley yesterday with Sean Dyche also signing Ashley Westwood from Aston Villa.

Burnley were one of the busier sides on an otherwise quiet deadline day although Odion Ighalo completed one of the other biggest deals after leaving Watford for China.

The striker joined Chinese Super League club Changchun Yatai for an undisclosed fee, although it was reported to be around £20 million.

Ighalo, also linked with a move to West Brom, scored 39 times in 100 games for the Hornets, having helped them to promotion to the Premier League in 2014-15 and netted 15 top-flight goals last season.

West Brom did bring in defender Marc Wilson from Bournemouth.

Hull City announced the loan arrival of Italy international defender Andrea Ranocchia from Inter Milan after manager Marco Silva ruled out any chance of former Dundee United fullback Andy Robertson being sold.

The Tigers also signed midfielder Alfred N’Diaye on loan from Villarreal.

Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is to join Crystal Palace on loan, while Southampton confirmed the loan signing of goalkeeper Mouez Hassen from Nice until the end of the season.

Championship leaders Brighton completed a permanent deal for Glenn Murray, while Nottingham Forest were trying to push through a deal for Ross McCormack after the Scot upset his manager at Villa, Steve Bruce, by failing to turn up for training.
