Tanker driver escapes blazing cab in afternoon incident
The A90 was later closed by a dramatic tanker fire within just a few miles of the scene of the early morning fatality.
Two Scottish Fire and Rescue Service appliances were called to the incident just south of the Lochlands turn-off.
The blaze is thought to have started in the engine compartment of the articulated tanker, operated by Taylors Industrial Services.
It is understood the driver was able to escape his vehicle after pulling the truck to the side of the northbound carriageway, just past the Douglastown turn-off, shortly before 2pm.
Passing motorists witnessed the tractor unit of the lorry being engulfed in flames.
It is not known what, if any, material the tanker was carrying but it escaped serious damage.
