Keep dogs on lead

-

“As regular visitors to Balgay Cemetery over the past 25 years,” emails Frank Galloway, “my wife and I have continually witnessed dog owners allowing their pets to roam free among the headstones. Once or twice we have reminded some owners of the need for their dog or dogs to be kept on a lead, but most offenders just ignore our words.

“On a few visits we have actually scooped up dog mess in the vicinity of our daughter’s grave which is something the dog-owners are not aware of as their pet is roaming free.

“We do hope that the missing pet dog is found safe, but this may not have happened in the first place had the pet been kept on a lead.

“We would ask all dog walkers in Balgay Cemetery to respect the by-law and more importantly respect the feelings of visitors tending their relative’s graveside.”
