Rewind reveller fined after drunken tirade at first aiders

-

A festival-goer told police “you don’t know who I am” as he lashed out at paramedics trying to treat his cut hand.

Robert Tennant was attending the Rewind festival at Scone palace when he became injured.

As attempts were made to staunch the flow of blood the 49-year-old became abusive, leading security staff to instruct first aiders to cease treatment due to fears for their own safety.

Fiscal depute Robbie Brown told Perth Sheriff Court: “There had been an incident and the accused had suffered a cut to his hand. First aiders attended and police officers were alerted.

“The paramedics were attempting to treat him but he was acting aggressively. As a result the security staff told the first aiders to stop treating him, fearing for their safety.

“He was asked to calm down but continued to act aggressively, flailing his arms. He then began to threaten police officers, stating ‘you don’t know who I am’ and ‘I’ll kill your family, I’ll get them tonight’, along with other threats.”

He said that Tennant had been forcibly restrained and handcuffed.

Solicitor Billy Somerville, defending, said Tennant had worked as a mechanical engineer in the oil industry but was made redundant in 2015 and said he had been drunk at the time of the incident.

Tennant admitted acting in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting, swearing, uttering threats of violence and acting aggressively on July 23.

He also pled guilty to obstructing police constables Ryan Shields and Robert Milne by struggling violently.

Branding Tennant of Chapelwell Wynd, Aberdeen, an “idiot”, Sheriff Lindsay Foulis fined him £900.
