The Courier & Advertiser (Perth and Perthshire Edition)

Top team whose services are just the job

-

On the third floor of the DC Thomson building on Dundee’s Kingsway East, you will find Ross Young, hard at work offering clients the best recruitment solutions for their businesses.

Ross works as part of the recruitment team and, alongside his colleagues in Aberdeen and Inverness, they are committed to offering a recruitment solution that is right for your business.

Ross has been with DC Thomson for five years and deals with recruitment telesales for The Courier and Evening Telegraph, as well as our online platform www.jobsinscotland.com.

Disillusioned in his previous job, he saw a copy of The Courier, noticed the job here and decided to apply for it.

Five years on he can now tell the tale of how it changed his life.

“I enjoy my job and still get a buzz out of it,” he says.

“My daily routine includes dealing with all inquiries, whether it be email or phone.

“I make sure the customers’ needs are dealt with by offering them the best package to get their vacancy filled.”

Ross’s job also involves monitoring all local vacancies to make sure DC Thomson is carrying them.

“Later in the week, my job involves making sure all copy is ready to go for the recruitment pages and dealing with the planners to ensure the pages look good,” he adds.

“We offer a wide range of packages and options for the customer’s recruitment needs.”

Joining Ross is a wealth of experience across the team.

Suzanne Todd is the senior business development executive and has been with the company for 26 years.

Scott Jamieson has 16 years of experience with Aberdeen Journals (owned by DC Thomson) and is the group recruitment manager.

Kerrie Jamieson is the team leader and has 11 years’ experience in the company.

And Katja Watson is the newbie on the team, with a year in recruitment telesales.

The team reaches to Inverness, with Seonaid MacRae in the city as a senior telesales executive.

As part of DC Thomson, advertisers have access to the whole portfolio in the company so there a huge audience to cast your recruitment net in.

Many see recruitment advertising as expensive but Scott says: “We have done a lot with our recruitment offering, our rates have changed and there is lots of flexibility with how you present your advert.

“We want the opportunity to work with companies to help them and utilise all the platforms we have to offer.”

The team will cater to your needs, finding out if a local advert would benefit most, or one across the full DC Thomson portfolio in print, online and social media.

Through the Jobs In Scotland website, an average of 35,000 emails are sent out weekly to a captive market.

These people have registered their interest in specific jobs, so the vacancies are reaching those who are seeking jobs in the area.

By using our online and print platforms, we are ensuring the right kind of people are seeing your adverts and vacancies.

Editorial features can also help enhance a campaign long-term. They can look at an interesting position, or a particularly noteworthy employee.
