Lefebvre taking nothing for granted

Dundee Stars tonight (7.30pm) aim to make it a triple whammy against their basement rivals Edinburgh Capitals in a crunch clash.

The Taysiders thrashed Capitals 10-3 and 6-0 in their previous two visits to the Dundee Ice Arena.

Both are in the race for an end-of-season play-off place.

Stars’ coach Marc Lefebvre said: “Sure, we’ve beaten them twice but it is what we do on the night that counts.

“Capitals may be bottom of the table but they have dangerous players. We’ll have to play our own game and play smart.”

Meanwhile Dundee Tigers host local rivals Dundee Comets on Sunday (6.30pm) in what promises to be a frenetic Scottish National League encounter at the Dundee Ice Arena.

Comets came out on top when the two sides met in December and have a huge incentive as they are in a battle for top spot.

The Tigers are languishing in mid-table, with a point to prove.

John Robb, Tigers’ assistant manager, revealed they will be minus Mark McLeod and Robbie Barnett due to long-term injuries.

New signing Marc Leggatt will play his first home game since returning to the club, and Robb added: “He’s looked very effective in training. Derby games are always pretty special and we hope we can pick ourselves up after last week’s loss and put in the kind of performance we’re capable of.”
