The thieves, both described as being in their 20s, followed the woman after she had withdrawn money from the Post Office on Perth’s High Street on Wednesday January 25.

A police spokesperson said: “It’s thought the women had watched the elderly lady and then followed her into the St John’s Shopping Centre before causing a distraction and stealing her purse, which contained a three-figure sum of money.”

The women are described as being of eastern European appearance with long brown hair, with one wearing hers in a single plaited ponytail.

Both women were said to be dressed smartly with one wearing a Burberry-style shawl and Russian-style fur hat.

The other woman wore a woollen hat and beige jacket.

The theft took place around 10.30am.

Police are also appealing for information after a rear window was smashed at Supersavers, Dunkeld Road, Perth, overnight Thursday January 26 into Friday January 27.
