Liverpool ‘back in the race’

-

LIVERPOOL manager Jurgen Klopp believes victory over

TOTTENHAM has sparked their season back into life.

The 2-0 win over their top-four rivals, achieved courtesy of a couple of Sadio Mane goals within three first-half minutes, was the Reds’ first in the Premier League since they beat Manchester City on New Year’s Eve.

However, their new-found momentum will be interrupted by a 16-day break before their next outing at Leicester.

That period could turn out to be even longer as their Monday night game at the King Power Stadium could be postponed should the Foxes need an FA Cup replay to get past Millwall.

“Now we are back in this race and we have to use this situation,” said Klopp.

Two goals from Alexis Sanchez got ARSENAL back on track as they moved up to third with a hard-fought 2-0 success at home to HULL.

After consecutive defeats, and against visitors stuck deep in relegation trouble despite last week’s win over Liverpool, Arsenal had to battle for their three points in their lunchtime kick-off.

Sanchez’s first-half opener was controversial, going in from close range off his hand after a ricochet off Hull goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic.

MANCHESTER UNITED kept in touch with Arsenal and the rest of the pack chasing runaway leaders Chelsea thanks to a 2-0 win over WATFORD at Old Trafford.

United dominated the first half and had their reward in the 32nd minute when Juan Mata sidefooted them in front.

Anthony Martial’s third goal of the season doubled the advantage on the hour and sealed the victory.

MANCHESTER CITY are in action tonight, travelling to Bournemouth.
