Expect bumper catches after Ledcrieff stocking

-

LEDCRIEFF FISHERY kicks off for the season this weekend.

The fishery has been stocked with 100 rainbows, blues and browns from 5lb to 10lb as well as an additional stocking of around 120 averaging 3-4lb.

These stockings, on top of the large head of fish already present, should provide some fast and furious sport.

The new extended jetties are being completed this week with some additional jetties being put in place.

Work will continue to improve foot access and disabled access around both lochs.

Plenty fish have been seen on the surface, with good hatches of buzzers coming off the water.

The management expect plenty bumper catches this weekend.

Lairds Loch Fishery is being fully stocked and will open in April for fly and bait fishing.

NEWTON FARM has seen a steady week in customers and fish landed despite the changeable weather.

Size 12 various black buzzers have been doing best with wotsits and bugs under the bung also scoring well.

Top rods were Craig McIntosh releasing 10, including one at 10lb, and Chris Mulholland also with 10 fish on size 14 buzzers. Mr McGouldrick was best of the week, weighing in four fish for a huge 21lb 4oz.

The fishery is still taking club bookings for the 2017 season.

FRANDY FISHERY opens today with permit prices pegged at last year’s level.

Boat anglers should find the drift on the south shore from the Smithscleuch Burn right down to the Dam wall productive and damsel, cats and various small lures are recommended.

As far as the bank is concerned, buzzers, the okey dokey and small lures will work well.

A new Facebook page is up and running for the fishery.

It turned out to be another mixed week at ORCHILL
