It’s one cup final won for Cowdenbeath, according to new manager Gary Locke, and 10 to go.

The Blue Brazil welcome Elgin City to Central Park tonight knowing that a win would pull the side to within two points of secondbottom Clyde.

And, for the first time this year, they go into a match filled with the confidence of a victory in the game before.

Locke, whose side won 3-1 at Berwick Rangers on his first weekend in the job, said: “We had 11 cup finals to play when I came in at the end of last week, and we got off to a great start at the weekend in our first one.

“We know have another 10 to play as we look to get out of the trouble that we are in.”

He added: “I thought the players did really well at Berwick. If we can perform to that level again then we can get more wins, especially as belief will grow with better results.

“Elgin are looking to bounce back from a disappointing result at Annan on Saturday so it will be a tough game.”

The hosts have parted company with coach Neil Hastings, who was on touchline duty at Berwick.

Kyle Miller is available after suspension. However, Kenny Adamson remains out.

Elgin City manager Jim Weir is looking for a return to form from his side after defeat to a “better and hungrier” Annan Athletic on Saturday.

He said: “Cowdenbeath played really well at Berwick and, whilst they may be at the bottom of the league, they showed a lot of fight.

“We need some of that spirit as we are not sure of our play-off place and need to win games,” he added.

“There is also a slim chance that we can still catch leaders Forfar so we have plenty to play for.”

Shane Sutherland is a major doubt for Elgin.
