Kinross student up for top award
A former Kinross High School pupil has been shortlisted for a legal award, after impressing judges in a national law competition.
George Dick, who is studying law at Dundee University, could be named Future Legal Mind 2017, after composing an essay on the UK’s legal justice system.
The 20-year-old stands to earn an internship at Simpson Millar and a cash prize of £5,000 if he wins the competition on March 29.
George credits his time as a Kinross High pupil as the inspiration for his academic success.
He said: “I notably had little interest in academe before I entered Kinross High School – however, the staff presented areas of thought I had never encountered before, sparking my passion for academe, which I now bring to university and my everyday life.
“To be shortlisted for such a demanding and challenging competition is quite an honour indeed. I am truly glad I met the expectations of the judges.
“Giving this opportunity to students to consider these topics is greatly enlightening for the young legal minds of the future generation, and I am elated to have made it this far in the competition.”
The Future Legal Mind award is an annual competition organised by legal website legal2b.com and the National Accident Helpline.
Entrants discussed why the UK civil justice system needed lawyers, if ebay can settle 60 million disputes per year.
