Opinion on streets of Courier Country
I wasn’t too fussed about the news of another referendum. I am from Spain, and I would stay in Scotland if it chose to leave the UK and became a member state of the EU.
Tania Alcantara, bar worker in Perth’s Green Room.
I welcomed the announcement by Nicola Sturgeon. I was glad to hear about it because we need independence.
Brian Blair, 25, factory operative from Dysart.
I support the call for a second referendum. I think separating from the UK would be good for business, and becoming a member of the EU would give us some stability.
Gordon Ewan, goldsmith.
A lot has changed in three years and I would vote Yes now. I don’t trust that Westminster has the best wishes of my grandchildren in mind.
Rona Murty, Montrose, 54, cleaner.
I’m happy a second independence referendum has been called for. It’s a shame it has had to be so quickly as a result of B rex it. I voted yes last time and would again.
Alma Somerville, manager at The Venue, Perth.
If Scotland can stay in the EU, I would vote for independence. I would probably vote for independence either way.
Anda Griventeanu, 35, from Romania is head of finance at a Scotland-based charity.
I am not sure there should be a second referendum. I think it is a good thing so many people are interested in politics these days, it is good for democracy.
Agnes Davidson, retired.
I was unsure about how to vote in the last referendum but am sticking with No. I don’t think adults ever really change their minds.
