Islamouth still stand-out beat

It has been another productive week for salmon on the River Tay, with most beats getting into the action.

Upper Scone had fish from Benchil, and the Pitlochrie beats saw fish caught on the fly by the Stephen Patterson party.

On Stanley on the Pitlochrie beat, Horsey was again the spot with Sandy Forgan and Chris Blanford both having success on the fly. Further upstream Roger Worth celebrated his honeymoon with a superb 18lb fish from the famous Slap pool under the Catholes Weir, ably supported by his wife Sarah.

Danny Fulton and Billy Graham caught in the same pool and on the fly as well. Burnmouth had one or two in the week, mostly from the boat.

Ballathie had a couple, with Tim Hanbury and Darren Hunt successful. Cargill had another reasonable week, with six, including a superb 21lb fish for Scott Murray. Other fish were landed by David Sands, Malcom Fearnon, Brian Taylor and Valerie Johnson.

Islamouth continues to be the stand-out beat with 12 last week, including fish for Richard Muir, Louis Miller, Mark Paterson, Gary Weir, Rory Campbell and James Holder.

Meikleour and Upper Islamouth caught four in the week, which included three in one day for Nick Doyle, Adam Briggs and Adam Hughes.

The middle river is producing more fish now. Kercock had a couple, including a super 26lb monster for David Turpin.

Delvine and Burnbane also caught a couple, with Willie Cumming landing a 12lb fish on a vision. Glendelvin­e had fish, with John Dewar successful.

Successful rods on Newtyle included Robert Clyde and Len Merchant. At Dunkeld, Julie Coleman landed her first salmon, weighing 10lb.

Phil Baker had a 20lb fish at Dalmarnock, while Dalguise had two, including a memorable 21lb fish for Nathan Shephard.

The upper river is also seeing action, with Findynate proving successful. The Tummel saw some sport as well with fish coming off the lower beat as Malcolm Anderson and Andrew Khakoo landed on the fly.
