BUTTERSTONE. Sheila Bruges welcomed Bridget Black from Gatehouse Nursery, who spoke about growing plants and how the nursery has grown from those early days. She also demonstrated the best way to fill a hanging basket. Competition: flower of the month – 1 E Bruges, 2 S Bruges, 3 M Hale and S Mannion. FOWLIS WESTER. Wilma Brown introduced Beaton Lindsey, who spoke about his life as a family butcher. President Audrey Michie welcomed members of Methven Institute to the meeting and introduced Angus Whitson, who writes the One Man And His Dog column in The Courier, and who related several stories about his experiences in the Scottish countryside. President Mrs Still welcomed Liz Nicholson who demonstrated beadwork. Competitions: knitted teddy – 1 V Calder, 2 E Robertson, 3 I McWilliam; cinnamon scones – 1 J Cameron, 2 H Evans, 3 I McWilliam. MURTHLY. Muriel Graham presided over a joint meeting with Luncarty mmbers, with entertainment provided by The Rural Blend. RATTRAY. President Margaret Watson welcomed members, guests and visitors and introduced Tracy Dick from Create@nest, Blairgowrie, and Gloria Mitchell from Cortachy. Tracy demonstrated how to crochet a thistle that could be used as part of a display or made into a brooch, while Gloria gave a demonstration on how to make fascinators and silk corsages. Competitions: upcycled item – 1 L Stewart, 2 F Ness, 3 F Andrews; flower arrangement in a jam jar – 1 K McCormick, 2 K Imlay, 3 M Birch; flower of the month – M Birch. STRATHALLAN. President Susan Gray welcomed members and introduced Estelle Nicol who spoke about her trekking in the Himalayas for Marie Curie. AIRLIE. At the March meeting members heard a talk by the Scottish SPCA.
