Day off to a flier for Concorde Music

-

Limited edition vinyl was the reward for those music fans who began queuing at midnight in Perth to secure the special releases made available for Record Store Day.

A bacon roll for the first 10 in the queue at Concorde Music was an added bonus for buyers, who came from across Tayside, Fife and Aberdeenshire.

The resurgence of vinyl has seen Record Store Day become the busiest day of the year at the Scott Street shop, established in 1967.

It now far outstrips any day within the Christmas shopping period and manager Craig Smith said the latest had been the best to date.

“Record Store Day is now our biggest of the year and we worked hard to ensure that we had more releases than ever before,” said Craig, who runs the store with dad Garry.

“There was a great atmosphere in the queue and everyone who made the effort to arrive before the doors opened left with something they wanted, which is nice.

“We also took phone calls from collectors all around the UK looking for releases they couldn’t find in their own stores so we’ll be sending out plenty more by mail order.

“The resurgence in vinyl has been amazing and I think it will keep on going and growing.”

The most popular of the special releases included vinyls from U2 and David Bowie.
