Chance for Perthshire to shine when travel show checks in

-

Some of the world’s biggest tour operators will discover Perthshire’s tourism treasures as part of the country’s biggest travel trade show.

The VisitScotland Expo takes place at Glasgow’s SEC on April 26 and 27 and brings businesses face to face with more than 600 tour operators and travel agents.

Over the four days that follow, delegates will explore Scotland’s culture and heritage with visits to attractions such as Scone Palace and The Scottish Crannog Centre.

Groups will also make their way to The Famous Grouse, the Highland Chocolatier, The Black Watch Castle and Museum in Perth, Dunkeld House Hotel and Drummond Castle Gardens, which featured in the TVn series Outlander.

In all, 15 Perthshire accommodation providers, visitor attractions and activity providers will be represented.

The hope is that in addition to creating a net economic impact of £2.5 million for the economy, the event will help Perthshire’s vital tourism industry to grab worldwide attention and continue to grow.

VisitScotland’s Neil Christison said: “Perthshire is famous for its history and heritage so I’m thrilled that these tour operators will get to sample the region’s finest offerings as part of their Expo experience.

“It is also very encouraging to see so many local businesses representing this region.

“This is a fantastic opportunity to promote Perthshire and engage suppliers from all over the UK and overseas. Tourism is more than a holiday experience. It creates jobs, sustains communities and provides a shop window for business activity.”
