Young poets impress with their original works in annual contest
The Perthshire Writers’ group has been celebrating the talents of some of the region’s finest young poets.
Its schools’ poetry competition received a wealth of impressive entries, with the best hailed by president William Duguid.
First prize in the senior competition went to Megan Coutts of Perth Academy for her “intriguing” poem The Mug.
The junior competition resulted in a joint first place, shared by Perth High pupils Emily Jarvis and Ivan Kossko for “Sledging in a Winter Wonderland” and “Caged”.
All three will read their poems as Perthshire Writers’ perform “A Pocketful of Perthshire” at Perth Museum and Art Gallery on Wednesday May 17.
