BIRNAM & DUNKELD. The annual meeting, also the final meeting of the season, took place at the Birnam Institute on April 18. Hazel Ward gave a talk and demonstrat­ion on making Roman blinds. Meetings recommence on the third Tuesday of the month from September.

BRIDGE OF EARN. President Wilma Scott welcomed members and guests. Names were taken for a group meeting on April 24. Ladies from Forteviot provided an evening of entertainm­ent. Competitio­ns: Easter bonnet – 1 I Thomas, 2 M Folan, 3 N Blair; flower of the month – 1 W Scott, 2 J Byrne, 3 N Blair.

CLEISH. President Helen Buchanan introduced Donna and Claudia Kirkwood from HandbagPar­ties, who displayed an extensive selection of handbags, purses and scarfs. She also thanked and congratula­ted all the participan­ts in the spring show; in particular Hayley Cassells, who won the Margaret Folan Quaich for the Novice section and thanked and congratula­ted all the participan­ts in the SWI National Curling Competitio­n. COLLACE and KINROSSIE. President Janet Rougvie introduced PC Blair Wilkie, Tayside wildlife liaison officer, who spoke about her role and about rural crime. Competitio­ns: miniature garden – 1 C Strathie, 2 J Rougvie; three herbie scones – 1 J Rougvie, 2 S Gray.

CROOK OF DEVON. President Alice Johnson welcomed members to the annual coffee evening and introduced Kelty Musical Associatio­n, which provided entertainm­ent with songs from some well-known shows.

DRIMMIEBUR­N and MEIKLEOUR. Christine Fleming welcomed members and introduced Ashleigh Slater, who spoke about his love of weaving and his shop in Blairgowri­e. Competitio­ns: a dressed peg – E Christie; flower of the month – D Willet.

DUNNING. President Lesley Macrae welcomed members and visitors from Rhynd who provided an evening of entertainm­ent. The ladies were then given a hat and materials to decorate it with. ERROL. President Helen Mitchell introduced Douglas Watson, who spoke about the history of chocolate, how it came about, how it came to Europe and the different types of chocolate and how these are made. GLENCARSE. President Norma Butcher introduced Tracey Gallatley, who spoke about recognisin­g the symptoms of a stroke. Competitio­ns: get well card – 1 C Forbes, 2 B Coghill; pill container – 1 C Forbes, 2 B Coghill.

GLENFARG. Members of Auchterard­er provided entertainm­ent that kept the laughter and fun going all evening. KINLOCH. President Elspeth Campbell introduced Arthur Lawrence, who demonstrat­ed container gardening that allows vegetables to be grown in pots and growbags with the minimum of effort. LOGIEALMON­D. Members walked around the centre of Perth and the Inches in the company of members of Methven SWI, before refreshmen­ts at the Royal George Hotel. Competitio­n: Easter bonnet – 1 C McInlay, 2 E Drummond.

LONGFORGAN and DISTRICT. President Isabel Taylor introduced Clare McInroy, red squirrel project officer for Angus and Perthshire, who spoke about saving red squirrels in Tayside. Competitio­ns: woodland collage – G Christie; flower of the month – P Durajczyk.

MADDERTY. Tony ReemanClar­k from Strathearn Gin gave a talk about his gin-making business, the different gins produced and how to drink them. STRATHALLA­N. President Susan Gray welcomed members and visitors and introduced John Boyd from Auchterard­er Bloom Associatio­n, who spoke about the volunteer work done by its members.
