Forfar’s defeat means Kennoway promoted

-

Forfar West End’s 2-1 defeat at Bathgate was well received by Kennoway Star Hearts as it enabled them to celebrate promotion to the Super League.

It is a remarkable feat for a club that only entered the Junior ranks four years ago.

West End can still join them, but it will almost certainly have to be by the play-offs.

An unfortunate own goal put Darryl Mckenzie’s side on the back foot early on.

Graeme Hart cancelled that out in the last minutes but Robbie Feeney netted Thistle’s stoppagetime winner.

Although down to the bare bones, Glenrothes put in a hard shift to end up sharing a point in a six-goal thriller at home to Arniston Rangers.

But given they were twice two goals ahead, they were gutted not to have taken full points, leaving boss Willie Campbell lamenting their inability not to see out games.

Conor Schiavone scored twice, and for the second week running their trialist scored a spectacular 45-yarder.

Downfield ended their six-match winless run with an odd-goal-in three victory at Armadale who are relegated.

All square at 1-1 at the break after Ross Gallagher netted for the Spiders, Marc O’Leary got their winner.
