Author to spread antibullying message

-

A best-selling Canadian author will return to his Tayside roots next month as part of an anti-bullying crusade.

Scott Graham, who was born in Dundee, has been coaching students of all ages about leadership for the past 25 years. He was even awarded the coveted Meritorious Service Medal by the Governor General of Canada for his efforts.

Now the popular writer and TEDx speaker, is planning a trip to Perthshire, where he will speak to pupils at Balhousie Primary, his mother’s old school. He will also talk at Perth’s North Muirton Primary.

“How to reach and raise resilient children is the same whether you’re in Toronto, Canada or Perth, Scotland,” he said.

“It is essential to provide leadership tools and help children deal with bullying effectively.”

Scott is the founder of the highly successful Kids 4 Kids leadership programmes and summer camps in Canada which boasts a membership of more than 25,000 children.

The schools’ presentations are aimed at helping children develop leadership skills and deal with bullies.

A former student of Scott’s Kids 4 Kids project Deven Duncombe said: “I think it’s great that Scott is travelling to the land of his roots to share his message.

“He has helped thousands of kids understand they can be proud of who they are and where they come from.

“It is too easy for people, whether it be in a school playground or business, to erode their heritage. Scott’s unique and sometimes zany messages make a difference.”
