A Dutch-born artist is celebrating the workplaces of NorthEast Scotland with a solo exhibition at The Meffan Museum and Art Gallery in Forfar.
Darg and Drams is the culmination of Kate Steenhauer’s artistic explorations at the shipyards and heliports of Aberdeen harbour.
She also reflects the art of the Speyside Cooperage where whisky casks are made.
“Having lived in Scotland for more than a decade I see its beauty in the natural grit of everyday life,” says Kate.
Originally from the Netherlands, her career path has gone from semiprofessional tennis in her youth to civil engineering at Delft University of Technology and from a PhD in coastal engineering from Aberdeen University to fine art.
She produces contemporary images of Scottish heritage using oil paint and intaglio printmaking techniques.
