A Dutch-born artist is celebratin­g the workplaces of NorthEast Scotland with a solo exhibition at The Meffan Museum and Art Gallery in Forfar.

Darg and Drams is the culminatio­n of Kate Steenhauer’s artistic exploratio­ns at the shipyards and heliports of Aberdeen harbour.

She also reflects the art of the Speyside Cooperage where whisky casks are made.

“Having lived in Scotland for more than a decade I see its beauty in the natural grit of everyday life,” says Kate.

Originally from the Netherland­s, her career path has gone from semiprofes­sional tennis in her youth to civil engineerin­g at Delft University of Technology and from a PhD in coastal engineerin­g from Aberdeen University to fine art.

She produces contempora­ry images of Scottish heritage using oil paint and intaglio printmakin­g techniques.
