Minister wrong on foodbanks
Sir, - How dare your correspondent the Rev Dr John Cameron of St Andrews suggest that all who use foodbanks are slothful and ignorant.
While our political overlords have accepted above-inflation pay rises several times in recent years, there are many local authority employees and those working elsewhere in the public sector who have not received a meaningful wage rise or have seen their salary drop in recent years who now need to use foodbanks to feed their families.
The only point with which I agree with Mr Cameron is that a can of beans or soup is not the most nutritional, but it is something to put into the stomach of a hungry child. Colin Topping. Crathes Close, Glenrothes.
